E-newsletters primary goal should be enhancing the relationship you have with your current customers and prospects. This is more difficult when you have sales goals to achieve and email is a primary sales channel but you must provide a reason for your audience to not unsubscribe and believe there is value in proving permission to receive email communications from your company. With that in mind, here are some tips for a successful online newsletter:. Provide unique value of being a subscriber. While special email only coupons are of value (and great for acquiring new opt-ins) retaining their permission and interest is a different challenge in and of itself. A newsletter can help remind them that there is significance in being a subscriber. Remember, especially for retailers, after a user completes a purchase, they might not have a need for your emails, especially if they are offer heavy. However, a newsletter that can offer product or service usage insight, industry and product news and tips, surveys and general lifestyle contextual content will help keep them on the list. Soft sell. You don't want to hammer away at one of your most valuable assets (your mailing list) with constant offers, "news" and irrelevant sales propaganda. This is a way to communicate various messages without being overly promotional in nature. You can still promote your services or products but have that as the secondary aspect of the email. Cross promote. E-newsletters, when designed properly, provide a powerful venue for cross promoting, upselling and marketing your additional...

Online sales are growing at a much faster pace than retail sales. With a lot of companies selling services online, it is imperative for you to have a professional ecommerce website that will have customers return to your site repeatedly. Whether you choose to accomplish the web design in-house or using a hired company, you will find five essential factors which are found in just about every effective web site. They are: Search Engine Optimized: Also known as SEO, making a well-optimized web-site is often difficult. In past times, unprincipled developers and online marketers involved in keyword filling. They stuffed a webpage with specific key phrases or concealed keywords and phrases within the internet page code to support higher search rankings. Directed by Google, search engines are definitely more critical right now. Sites that are caught planning to manipulate search engine ranking are removed from the ranks totally. Having an ecommerce professional is important for you to establishing an SEO web site which betters ranks while remaining within the google search guidelines. Content-Rich Website: Your ecommerce website should really be more than a store. It should give shoppers value in order that they will certainly come back repeatedly. This can be done by providing educational blogs, customer reviews and additional product details on your e-commerce website. Amazon has used this concept very effectively. Often businesses try to reduce their web design costs by trying to do it themselves. This is fine as long as they know some basic programming or knows someone who can help them with the programming. If you do not know some basic html programming, it would take a much longer time for you learn the various aspects of web design and then build the website. Of course, there are products like Dreamweaver that could help you, but you still have to learn how to use the program and along the way you will realize that Dreamweaver is not a magic software. After all that work, the final product might not have that "WOW" effect that your customers would appreciate and you might not get the return on your investment of time and money. Furthermore, if time is money (and I firmly believe that it is) think about all the time (read money) you have lost in the process. A better solution to this is to do the non-technical aspects of the web design project yourself and then hire a professional to do the heavy lifting that involves knowledge of programming languages. This will reduce your cost and time involved in getting a business website and at the same time you will have a product that is functional and useful for your customers. Before you do anything about getting a website, do your research. Visit your competitors websites and make a note of the things you like and dislike. Also browse...

Every business owner wants their website to look nice and professional. They also want the website to show up at the top of online searches. However, some of these "nice" features could actually turn your website visitors away from your site and cost you in revenue. Many of these features will cause pages to load slow or even crash unless the visitor has the latest version of Java. Keep it simple and you'll find that your conversion rates will skyrocket, get a better return on website investment. Following up on our previous blog about "Characteristics of a good website", here are some features to avoid on your website. Overdone flash/splash screens Splash screens gave the web users of yesteryear something to marvel at. Today (or I should say since the advent of Google.com) it is all about fast loading, simple and purposeful website. Users have become more sophisticated and less impressed by a page spinning and sparkling and flying around than they once were. So save the flash for where you really need it and concentrate on getting users to where they need to go. Video/Sound files that start up when a visitor arrives at your site Talk about unprofessional! What if your customers speakers are turned all the way up? You'll be sure to annoy them as you blast them out of their chair and possibly wake up the baby! Be considerate to your audience. People coming to your site may be at work themselves and aren’t necessarily interested in...

Print screen (often abbreviated Prt Scr, Print Scrn, Prt Scn, Prt Sc, Prt Scrn, or Prnt Scrn) is used to capture an image of what you see on your monitor as is. There are several software sold online to do this. However, for most purposes, you do not need to buy any software. Both Windows PC and Mac OS comes with the ability for Print Screen. Print Screen in Windows PC Almost all Windows keyboard comes with the Print Screen key. The key may appear differently depending on the manufacturer of your Windows keyboard. In some cases it is shown in its abbreviated form (Prt Scr, Print Scrn, Prt Scn, Prt Sc, Prt Scrn, or Prnt Scrn).  However, as shown in the image above, the standard position would be at the upper right hand corner of your keyboard. The sole function of this key is to take a snapshot or picture of your computer screen and copy it to the clipboard (the clipboard is an invisible holding area for content that is copied). Its the same thing as if you copied something from a document and it is now on your clipboard waiting to be pasted in its final destination. To save that image, first you have to paste it to a graphics editing program like Paint Shop or Photoshop. If you do not have a graphics editing program, you may just open a Microsoft Word document. Then press Ctrl + V to paste the image from the clipboard. That is...

In the world of web design, there are two basic ways most freelance web designers and firms charge: per hour or per project. As the CEO of a web design firm, I work with both clients and freelance contractors. So I see this tug of war at both ends. When a new client approaches us for a project, their first question is usually "how much is it going to cost?". We normally charge our clients on a per project basis. However, I often come across clients who insist on knowing the per hour pricing. Somehow, they feel better when they hear a small hourly rate. These are usually the bargain hunters who often go with the freelance web developer or offshore web design firms who quote a ridiculously low hourly rate. I have heard of rates as low as $5 per hour. The part of the information that is missing here is the number of hours it would take to complete the work. Clients will often sign on with these designers thinking they’ll save money, until that $20/hour web designer takes five times longer to do everything than the designer charging $60/hour and the quality is also compromised.
